Zasada Gentlemen`s Agreement

An example of a problem arising from cultural differences is the relatively low public confidence in Poland. Western companies often make oral statements. On the other hand, in the context of the implementation of Polish investments, it is necessary to formalise all regulations. In principle, the investor requires that the investor require the sending of an official correspondence, anything that must be processed on the line of the contractor – contract engineer. The gentlemen`s agreement does not apply. Western companies are also struggling to understand the Polish version of FIDIC – where the particular conditions are changed to distort the idea of FIDIC and where the main purpose of the treaty provisions is to pass on responsibility and pass it on to contractors. I have already written about the fact that these gentlemen have formed a very closely linked social group, which is based on their own principles. The most important value for them was solidarity among its members, called «honour.» If someone acted against the principles of honor, he destroyed the solidarity and unity of the group, undermining his right to form an elite. One of the institutions created on the basis of this solidarity was the gentlemen`s agreement. The gentlemen`s agreement is a specific type of international agreement that is concluded orally. (1) The elections of the vice-presidents are then held after a single vote. In the first round, for a maximum of 14 seats, candidates with an absolute majority of the votes cast are considered candidates by order of vote. If the number of successful candidates is less than the number of seats to be filled, a second round of voting is held on the same basis to fill the remaining seats.

If a third round of voting is required to fill the remaining seats, the voting principle applies to a simple majority. For the same number of votes cast, the oldest candidates are considered candidates. The destruction of Adolf Hitler`s Order of Versailles could only be achieved by a domino effect: Austria first, then Czechoslovakia and finally Poland. Warsaw could not support the connection Austria (1938). Except that the fate of this country was not in the hands of Poland. The decisive vote of the government of Neville Chamberlain condemned the lack of support of the Agreement, the French excluding in their actions the rule of adaptation to the British strategy. The same was true of the division of Czechoslovakia. On 14 January 1938, during Beck`s meeting with Hitler, the German leader spoke about the difficulties of the German minority in the region. That`s how he suspected future accidents, but Beck didn`t know what was going to happen in the coming months. A few weeks later (February 1938), the host in Poland, Herman Goering, tried to reach an agreement in the form of a gentlemen`s agreement. However, no similar agreement has ever been reached. There is no doubt that in condensing these two meetings, there has been only an exchange of reciprocal information on the actions of the parties on the international stage.

When on 21 September 1938 Warsaw directly asked Czechoslovakia to grant poles on the ground the same rights that the German people had obtained in the Sudetenland, Beck was convinced that there would be no intervention by the Western powers to defend Prague. In September 1938, a quartet of power (Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, France) was arbitrarily appointed to Munich to decide the fate of Europe. Beck feared leaving Zaolzia`s case in Hitler`s hands, as he was officially known, and in practice Germany itself decided whether or not to meet the expectations of the Poles. According to the provisions of appeasement, the AMF`s tactics had no alternative to the principle of maintaining a good relationship with Berlin, but only in accordance with the intolerant principle of the balance and maintenance of Polish.
